چکیده

We present resonant coherent small-angle scattering from sub-mm magnetic domains in an in-line holography geometry. By varying the polarization of the incident soft x rays the interference between the reference wave propagating from a pinhole and scattered object wave can be switched ‘‘on’’ or ‘‘off.’’ The referenceobject interference contribution in the scattering can be isolated by combining measurements with right and left circular polarizations. The implications for spatial and temporal interference experiments of magnetic specimen such as holography, lensless imaging, or photon correlation spectroscopy are discussed.

The fluence–resolution relationship in holographic and coherent diffractive imaging1

This work presents a numerical study of the fluence-resolution behaviour for two coherent lensless X-ray imaging techniques. To this end the fluence-resolution relationship of inline near-field holography and far-field coherent diffractive imaging are compared in numerical experiments. To achieve this, the phase reconstruction is carried out using iterative phase-retrieval algorithms on simulat...

Phase recovery and lensless imaging by iterative methods in optical, X-ray and electron diffraction.

Thomas Young's quantitative analysis of interference effects provided the confidence needed to revive the wave theory of light, and firmly established the concept of phase in optics. Phase plays a similarly fundamental role in matter-wave interferometry, for which the field-emission electron microscope provides ideal instrumentation. The wave-particle duality is vividly demonstrated by experime...

A scheme for lensless X-ray microscopy combining coherent diffraction imaging and differential corner holography.

We successfully use the corners of a common silicon nitride supporting window in lensless X-ray microscopy as extended references in differential holography to obtain a real space hologram of the illuminated object. Moreover, we combine this method with the iterative phasing techniques of coherent diffraction imaging to enhance the spatial resolution on the reconstructed object, and overcome th...

Soft x-ray coherent magnetic scattering experiments

The increased coherence of third generation synchrotron sources allows us to port laser techniques such as holography and dynamical light scattering from the visible to the x-ray spectral range. In addition to the obvious improvement in resolution, the x-ray range may allow for new variants that are not possible in the visible, as exemplified by techniques that use the strong magnetic contrast ...

Acquiring molecular interference functions of X-ray coherent scattering for breast tissues by combination of simulation and experimental methods

Background: Recently, it has been indicated that X-ray coherent scatter from biological tissues can be used to access signature of tissue. Some scientists are interested in studying this effect to get early detection of breast cancer. Since experimental methods for optimization are time consuming and expensive, some scientists suggest using simulation. Monte Carlo (MC) codes are the best...
